      Young Musicians' Concert

in aid of

Help for Heroes

Saturday July 5th at 7.30pm   Bosbury Church

This special concert is an opportunity to hear the very best that Herefordshire young musicians have to offer, and at the same time to support the charity Help for Heroes which is raising money to provide state of the art rehabilitation facilities for disabled service personnel returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. (See Help for Heroes website for more information).

The concert is the brainchild of the Habanera Wind Quartet - Harriet Campbell(18) (Flute), Annie Kay(19) (Oboe), Beth Allen(16) (Clarinet) and Rebecca McPherson(16) (Bassoon). The players are all principals with the Herefordshire Youth Orchestra and/or Hereford Youth Concert Band.

Harriet, Beth and Rebecca are students at John Masefield High School. Ledbury, and Annie is at Hereford Sixth Form College.  The girls formed their quartet late in 2007, and went on to win the Wind Chamber Music class at this year's Herefordshire Festival with a stunning performance of Jean Francaix 's "Quatuor". They are all Grade 8 plus standard multi-instrumentalists and will be playing and singing solos as well as quartet music of varying styles.

Included in the programme is a first performance of a piece by Ledbury composer John Frith depicting the story of Kenneth Grahame's "Wind in the Willlows".

Also making a big contribution are the sensational Choir and Drumming Group from Bosbury School, with their wonderful singing and boundless enthusiasm., led by Music Coordinator Sarah Smith and Head Teacher Liz Farr.

Peter Dyke, Assistant Organist at Hereford Cathedral, has kindly agreed to accompany the soloists and will also be playing a piano piece.

Tickets for the concert will be available on the door, priced £6 Adult, £3 Child, £15 Family, to include a glass of wine/juice and the famous Bosbury nibbles.
